The rock which refused to budge

Image
The rock which refused to budge   People continue to flock to the rock either out of curiosity or to make offering to it. A rock which defied three efforts to crack it with dynamite has caused a sensation.  Endless number of people have flocked to see the rock themselves, either out of curiosity or to make offerings to it.  The rock, measuring about six feet by four feet at the base, was unearthed at the Tai Pee Chooi Buddhist Temple, dedicated to the Monkey God, at Jalan Buloh Kasap in Segamat.

Sun Wukong Temple 大悲水

Image
Today I witnessed the ceremonial ritual for the deity Tua Pek Kong in the temple named Sun Wukong (in simplified Chinese 大悲水). This temple is unique. It sits on rocky terrain and slopes. I followed a group visit by the Yong Chuan Temple from Melaka. Wukong was put to guard the Peaches of Immortality for the Heaven but he ate all instead. On finding out Wukong ate the peaches, the Jade Emperor informed Buddha what Wukong had done. Sun Wukong was laid immobilized beneath the weight of Buddha's mountain for more than 500 years. It was said Wukong was born from a magical rock. Wukong has unmatched superhuman strength with his 72 different magical abilities. Ban Chong Bemban Kedai Kopi & Minuman

How to get there? Let's say we begin from Malacca City. Use the Lebuh AMJ, and upon seeing the Petronas Semabok next to the KFC Petronas Semabok, slow down to turn left at the T-junction onto Jalan Bukit Katil-Duyong. Continue the journey by driving through Jalan Duyong and Jalan Ayer Molek-Jasin. I was there when Adly Zahari visited Ban Chong Kedai Kopi & Minuman on 12 April 2019. What do you see? Me holding the mobile phone? Or what is on the mirror? On Wednesday 13 April 2022, I visited Ban Chong Bemban Kedai Kopi & Miniman again. This time, we tried the chicken rice together, Ho Siong, Yew Chai, and Ah Choon, the chicken rice seller who has a stall at Hilir Garden Ice Cafe, Ujong Pasir, Melaka. Four of us keep trying chicken rice by other shops in Melaka. For the first time, Ah Choon, a chicken rice seller commented that Ban Chong chicken rice is compatible with his. I agreed with Ah Choon but I made Ah Choon understand that his chilly sauce is so far the best.

Wangkang 2024 Shipmaster Invitation

A day before it was raining very heavily. A weather warning that heavy rain in Klang Valley and surrounding areas would start on Friday continuously overnight to Saturday morning is true. However, when Yong Chuan Tian Temple (勇全殿) conducted the 2024 Shipmaster Invitation ceremony on Saturday morning, the weather is really beautiful. No rain, bright sky, windy cool and no sunray and you can check it in this video. When the traditional ceremony being the initial stage of the Ong Chun/Wangchuan/Wangkang ceremony, rituals and related practices for maintaining the sustainable connection between man and the ocean has ended, rain continue from the afternoon into the late hours of the night till the early hours of next morning. https://youtu.be/PeM8EjcM4aM Thousands displaced by flood in Malaysia https://www.reuters.com/markets/commodities/thousands-malaysia-displaced-after-non-stop-rainfall-2021-12-18/

Coffee in different parts of the world

For many people, the morning ritual can’t be completed without a cup of coffee, sometimes maybe even two.  The pick-me-up drink is enjoyed around the globe by many cultures in tons of ways. Let’s take a look at how people enjoy their coffee in different parts of the world.  What coffee looks like around the world.  In Vietnam, Vietnamese Egg Coffee was invented in 1946, during the wartime milk shortage. Egg yolk and sweetened condensed milk are whipped together to give the coffee a thick and creamy consistency. In Australia, Australians love their flat white, which is similar to a latte, but smaller. Microfoam or steamed milk is poured over a shot of expresso.  Kaapi, or South Indian filter coffee, is made by mixing hot coffee with frothed milk and boiled milk. It is served in a dabarah and tumbler. The drink is poured back and forth between the two devices to thoroughly mix the ingredients and cool it down. Ethiopia is considered the birthplace of the coffee plant. Households often ho
