Melaka is ready for 5G or not

Breakfast today is Nasi Lemak and Teh Halia. I wear a Timberland 97% cotton made in India collared tee shirt for comfort, a playboy knee pant for ease and my Skechers Goga Pillar shoes, the GOwalk 3 for softness. I do a morning walk.

The Teh Halia tastes nice at the Teh Halia Babu and was as nice when it was called Warung Babu. From Bukit Serendit, my wife gave me a ride to Hang Tuah Mall where I exited from her car right in front of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia.

Two things in mind for the day. First thing for the day is to check with Maxis, what kind of communications services the provider in Malaysia can deliver to the rakyat. I have got to compare the services available with Maxis and Digi.

The other thing to do today is to review the SONY HXR-MC2500 and the DJI OSMO POCKET.
The morning sun is brilliant, orange and warm as I step nearer to Kubu Road and the sunlight is hidden by buildings on the left-side of the road before the sunlight radial on the Hakka Clan arch. I do a review and street view here. ( https://goo.gl/maps/77mWWvNnzoBLG8cUA )

Continuing my morning walk, these are the street view I did along the route until I reached Bandar Hilir,
  • SJK (C) Yok Bin
  • FamilyMart Jonker
  • Hainan Association
  • Hang Kasturi Mausoleum
  • Melaka Hokkien Huay Kuan

and Taman Bunga Merdeka.

I saw signage of “ Free Wi-Fi ” on Jonker Walk and within Taman Bunga Merdeka and I connected my cellphone to these network only to find out that the internet speed is very slow. ( Read News

The TM WiFi slow speed is not able to support the needs of the Street View App and I switched back to the mobile data provided by Digi. MBMB cleaners are cleaning every inches of the path I journeyed today and their actions is a proof that PintarHijauBersih is not a Talk.

Doors are rolling up within Dataran Pahlawan and Mahkota Parade, as time display on my cellphone show ten minutes to ten.

MaxisONE Home Fibre is not available for me after a Customer Service employee at the Centre of Mahkota Parade checked that Unifi is not available for my home. I asked another Customer Service at another Maxis Store in Dataran Pahlawan and she too gave me the same answer. The prominent signage about Fibre Nation & 5G prompted me to ask her some questions which was met with unsatisfactory and vague answers.

While they are uncertain as to when 5G will be launched in Malaysia, China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom have unveiled their 5G plans for subscribers to enjoy faster connections at a less expensive data per gigabyte.

The “ Pintar ” element of the slogan, PintarHijauBersih is Smart in English Language and a Smart City has got to capitalize on the 5G promise as quickly as possible. This is a question mark. How can one imagine that 5G can connect every parts of Melaka together when some parts of Cheng still do not have telephone landlines, for example, Jalan TTC 19  in Cheng.

Maybe, a relook on the fundamental is necessary because 5G is a great thing which can get everyone and every components in the heritage city connected.

If the infrastructure, and 5G cellphones are not in harmonious, we may not get the best out of the internet revolution.
